Remark

I owe my love of books to my mother. Due to my father’s job, we travelled a lot while I was growing up. Everywhere we went, I witnessed my mother devote the most profound love and care for her books, always refusing to leave any behind even when crossing large oceans. As morbid as it sounds, she has promised me her entire collection in her will and it means more to me than any jewellry collection. Anyway, my mother has often told me that when my brother and sister and I were litte, she used to carefully place all of our books under our pillows at night, because she liked the magical idea that the words would whisper through our ears at night. I love to hear my mother tell that story, and her efforts have not been in vain: I love books, and want to be a writer myself.

My thoughts:

Welcome to the magical world of books! Fair enough to have a love for books, but not to this stage! She speaks of books like they are the missing element in her life and they complete her, that or a secret love affair that her husband does not know about. SO much wasted paper.

Remark

I wonder if it is really possible to select a favourite book by choosing just one? When I read the BBC list of the top 200 books I was struck by the number of children’s books, recently published books and books made into movies on the list – was this a combination of nostalgia and “the last was the best” and “I loved the movie”? To get a better picture, perhaps you should have asked for the reader’s 10 favourite books, or top 2-3 books over a number of categories. Just a suggestion.

BTW, I was never injured while reading but I used to be able to get to work via walk/ferry/train/walk without lifting my eyes from the book I was reading!

My thoughts:

How is that possible, go all the way to work with your head in a book? Be that as it may he was doing the right thing and taking public transport!

Remark

I was interested in a girl I know, and was attempting to start a realtinoship with her. Having her over for dinner, meeting up when we were out, that sort of thing. Then one day we realised that he were reading exactly the same book at the same time (Zen and the art of motocycle maintenance). We never ended up going out after that. I don’t think that was the reason, but it might have been a bad omen.

My thoughts:

Omen or no omen mabye she just didn’t like you because your a money bags twat?
